On its approximately 4.500 kilometers, the twelfth longest river in the world crosses a truly worth seeing region. After its origin in China, the Mekong forms the border between Laos and Myanmar. Further south, after the Golden Triangle, it is the border river between Laos and Thailand. Afterwards, it flows through Cambodia and finally flows through the legendary Mekong Delta into the South China Sea. Large parts of the Mekong are navigable, making it an ideal way of transport for travelers in Southeast Asia.

Phong Na National Park is located about 450 kilometers south of the Vietnamese capital Hanoi. The park on the Laotian border forms the core of the last closed forest area in central Vietnam and is easily accessible by train from Hanoi or Hue.

In addition to the natural spectacle, you can also immerse yourself in the original, vibrant life of the fishermen in the floating villages during a trip through the bay.

FAQ About Vietnam Roundtrips

As the country is divided into three different climate zones, the country can very well be travelled throughout the year.

The rainy season in northern Vietnam lasts from July to September. The best time to travel to the north is therefore from September to December.

The rainy season in Central Vietnam lasts from September to december. November is also considered typhoon season, which brings some travel risk. Therefore, February to May can be considered the best time to travel to Central Vietnam.

The rainy season in South Vietnam lasts from June to October. The best time to travel to the South is therefore from December to March.

The main language in Vietnam is Vietnamese. English is only spoken by a minority of people in Vietnam, especially in the rural areas only a few Vietnamese speak English. In the larger citys many Vietnamese speak English.

Note that it is possible for tourists to drive a car in Vietnam, but there are no car rental agencies available in the country. So the best way to travel through Vietnam is with a private driver or to use public transport.

Vietnam is blessed with an abundance of delicious fruits, vegetables, rice, and seafood. Even the smallest cookshops (or sometimes just these) offer culinary delicacies of the finest. Small snacks to eat throughout the day are also popular, a noodle soup, a few rolls or simply fruit. Its worth trying out different Vietnamese dishes.

Buddhism is still the largest religion Vietnam. But also, Hinduism and Muslim religions can be found in the country.

Some countries have special visa agreements with Vietnam. So many tourists do not even need a visa for entering Vietnam for up to 90 days. Or it is very easy to get a visa-on-arrival at the airport.
